The Linked Data Infrastructure unit is focused to the development of the SOMA Platform, Insight’s computational framwork for scalable and distributed processing of large and heterogeneous Linked Open Data sources. Different stat-of-the-art It solutions, such as Mesos, form the core of the infrastructure to enable maintenance of Insight’s provision of services at reasonable overheads suitable for a research center and at maximum flexibility to make use of compute farms inside and outside of Insight. We succeeded in improving the TRL level of Soma from 5 to 7 so that the platform can be used in real-life applications across the institute. The infrastructure is used to give access to the biomedical data resources and the work has been presented at the Swat4Ls conference (Cambridge, 2015).
