The Unit of Semantics in eHealth & Life Sciences (SeLS) at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, National University of Ireland, Galway has a focus on using semantics for solving key data integration and analytics challenges in Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Genomic Analysis, Drug Discovery, Genotype-Phenotype Associations, Bio-Simulation, and Clinical Trials Repositories. SeLS has a unique set of expertise from Medical Informatics, Bio-Informatics, Semantic Web and Linked Data Technologies. Our research topics are aimed at the ontology building & alignment, query federation, clinical data mining, discovering & publishing links between clinical and public repositories, anonymisation and privacy over clinical resources. Our research projects and technologies provide support for (I) terminology and vocabulary building (i.e., ontology building); (ii) querying large, heterogeneous, and distributed clinical data sources; (iii) browsing & visualization of complex and distributed life sciences databases; and (iv) linking & query bio-simulation models.
