Barry Coughlan

I am a Research Assistant at Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), National University of Ireland, Galway. I am currently working on the MONNET (Multilingual Ontologies for Networked Knowledge) project for multi-lingual and cross-lingual access to Semantic Web knowledge resources. My role in the project is mainly focused around developing a knowledge base of financial and company data and designing a web-based user interface for use by domain experts.

I completed my degree in Electronic & Computer Engineering at NUI, Galway in 2009, and I submitted my M.Sc (Computer Science & Information Technology by research, at NUI, Galway) thesis for review in October 2012. My research was supervised by Karen Young and Dr. Michael Madden, and was focused on advancing the effectiveness of video-based e-learning systems through novel user interface features. I also mentored students in computer programming at the Drop-In Support Centre during my research.
