Margaret Coleman

I am an Intern at Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), National University of Ireland, Galway, working in the Unit for Natural Language Processing (UNLP) under the supervision of Paul Buitelaar.
I recently completed a four year undergraduate degree in English, Sociology and Politics and Human Rights at NUIG. In my final year, I undertook two seminar courses, both of which analysed the relationship between literature and digital media. This involved studying the use of web resources such as the Reading Experience Database (RED) and the WomensWriters Database in tracking readership patterns. In my final project, I addressed the issues surrounding the digitalization of texts by Google Books. The role technology plays in accessing literature became an interest of mine when I started working in Easons bookshop in 2010.
Currently, I am working on a project which aims to populate the WomenWriters Database using GATE.
